CORONA VIRUS is NOTHING against the viruses we been spreading in our societies for DECADES
The world is at chaos. Something which we can’t even see through our naked eyes have halted our lives and showed us how helpless human race is even with all the 21st Century advancements.
Hopefully, this will be my last post on Coronavirus (Covid-19), not because I don’t want to but for the fact that it is already been discussed all over the place and people have all the necessary information and insights. The problem with over-information is that it creates even bigger chaos. Everyone comes up with ideas and everyone blames everyone. The problem with media and social media is that we emphasize on negativity more than the positive aspects. Why? Because negativity is FUN.
People who have been following me know that I tend to write long articles to talk about the issue in detail and try to cover every aspect. One liner or hard hitting one sided talks are cool but just to demean the opposition and to have entertainment. So, this article will be long too but I hope it will be worth a read.
I will begin with the same message that is being spread all over; TAKE PRECAUTIONS, STAY AT HOME as much as possible, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS by the Govt and health personnel, not just for you but for your loved ones and other people too.
**STOP DEFAMING YOUR OWN PEOPLE**
First of all, I feel so angry when I hear people labeling our own people as JAHILS for not following the precautionary measures. It’s not just us, go to media pages of any country and you will see the similar reaction from their people. There is no country in the world where 100% population is taking the measures seriously. Its human nature, we tend to be serious only when we feel the heat. I am reading comments like YE QOM BATO SE NHI DANDO SE MAANTI HAI; well, it applies to entire human race, not just Pakistanis.
Naturally, we wait till the last moment in better hopes. Imagine this, your house is on fire but you are super rich, there is nothing in that burning house that you can’t buy again; in this case, you will not even bother and will let the house burn, you won’t risk your life. But imagine, this house which is on fire is all you got and the items in the house are also valuable which you can’t afford; you will risk your life and try to save as much as you can.
A few years back, an Emirates Aircraft had an emergency landing at Dubai Airport; upon landing, an engine blasted which caused fire resulting in an emergency evacuation. Some videos from inside the cabin were uploaded. The protocol is to leave all your belongings and rush to the exit points. But people were eager to get hold of their belongings while cabin crews were screaming LEAVE YOUR BAGS but people weren’t listening. Why? Because people had valuable items. I know, nothing is more valuable than life itself but it is easy to say than to practice. The system we have made doesn’t allow us to live simply. Do you know how hard it is to get a new passport after losing one? One passport takes so much of time, money and frustration then imagine if you had your property documents, education certificates or any other important document with you in that aircraft, won’t you try to get hold of them? Especially when you are someone with limited resources.
Same applies to the current situation. Majority of the people are neither active on social media nor they sit the entire time in front of TV. Only those of us who are getting constant updates on Social Media know the severity of the situation. It is not about being PARA LIKHA or JAHIL. I challenge you, switch off the TV, sign off from social media and you will adopt the same non serious attitude. And like I said, it’s not just us; it is happening even in the worst hit countries.
Another reason why our nation and many others like our nation are not serious is because of our overall situation. A person who barely makes a living has no interest in his/her health simply because they can’t afford it. Do you realize how much money is required to have regular checkups? And apart from money, the frustration due to lack of facilities is another dilemma. So our nation lives on faith and home remedies, not by choice but by necessity. So a person who was never serious for his health; how do you expect him to be suddenly serious? We wait till the end in hopes of getting better with home remedies in a bid to save money simply because we can’t afford it.
And not only health, majority of us live in hazardous conditions. Aren’t the cracks in our houses, the naked electric wires dangerous for us? But we don’t care because earning a living is so hard for us that once we get back home, we have already seen a lot throughout the day that we have no interest and energy left to take care of these safety issues.
Look at the conditions of our cars. No one wants to have his/her car in such poor condition but they don’t have choice so we just say CHALNE DO JAB TK CHALTA HAI KAAM.
So, if you are someone who can manage to follow precautionary measures, good for you, but don’t you dare talk trash about others because most of them don’t have what you got, especially mental peace.
I am constantly reading CHINA KI LARAI SIRF CORONA SE THI, IS MULK KI LARAI CORONA SE ZIADA JAHALAT SE HAI. Really? Look around the world; how the most advanced people have reacted. How people are panic buying and looting the resources. It’s simple, human behavior heavily depends on financial situation. As far as your stomach is full, your house is filled with all the excessive essentials and luxuries, you become MUHAZZAB. The moment you run out of resources and fear hunger, all that MUHAZZABNESS fades away.
I can challenge, once these countries run out of resources and have nothing to pay to their people, you will see how much they will follow the instructions.
I can challenge, once these countries run out of resources and have nothing to pay to their people, you will see how much they will follow the instructions.
Same goes to the people who are abusing our own people for not following instructions. Good luck to you, will see how much you will follow instructions when you run out of resources and home entertainment.
**LOCKDOWN**
Pakistan cannot afford a lockdown, period. Not just because of poor and daily wage workers but for the reasons mentioned above. Most of the people who are again bashing others for not following lockdown are the ones with the abundance of resources. If you have locked down yourself in a house having all the resources and food items, a private room, internet, games, movies; then there is nothing to brag about. You can simply afford it. Cut off the internet, cut off the privacy, cram people in a small place with limited resources and let me see how much time you will survive. It’s easy to give examples of other countries but you forget that every nation has different resources, conditions and overall situation of their people.
Imagine you are running a multi-billion corporation; some reliable sources inform you that there COULD be a disaster that could wipe out your business and advice you to shift to some other place. Shifting would require a huge amount of money, losses, time and resources and the chances of a disaster is a mere 50/50. How many of you will act immediately and how many of you will wait and watch to get things better with hopes? Before you answer, look at the history and you will find out that it is human nature and somehow justified that most of the time, we wait in hopes; especially when suggested action is extreme. Only those take the extreme action in the initial stage that can afford it.
For example, Kuwait immediately locked down and stopped all commercial flights soon the virus started to spread. Kuwait is an extremely small country with abundance of resources. They can pay their nationals for months. Their nationals will enjoy the similar lifestyle; they won’t have to worry about rents, food, salaries etc. Moreover, suspending commercial flights had no impact on them as there is neither tourism in the country nor any major business hubs where people travel frequently for meetings. So Kuwait had no issue in halting flights or imposing lock down. Even the national airline is heavily subsidized by the government.
Yes, the steps taken by the Kuwait government are praise worthy because using resources effectively is also a great thing.
But you can see that UAE, UK and many other countries didn’t take this extreme step in the initial stage because it was never easy for them. There are countries whose economy heavily rely on tourism, there are airlines that would have gone bankrupt and not every government have enough money to pay people for their essentials. So the governments were reluctant rightfully. Even China reacted once things get worst. And don’t forget, China is not so democratic friendly; they took extreme actions on their own people which are questionable.
So before comparing your country with others, do some research.
**FAITH HEALING**
We have seen that how even the best health care systems in the world have crashed. It is a clear indicator that no matter how advanced or how prepared you are, it’s nothing against the power of the Almighty.
I am against blind following, be it for religion or science. One should maintain a balance. There are people who dismiss scientific precautions and then there are others who dismiss faith healing and rely just on science.
Having faith in Allah doesn’t mean to just sit and wait for miracles. Allah has guided us through His book and His Messenger. We are taught to utilize the resources we are given and then hope for the best from Allah. You can’t just sit and ask Allah to fill your stomach. You have to work for it. It is true that everything happens by Allah’s will. One can get this disease in a desert and one can be safe even sitting with hundreds of others but following precautionary measures is not only necessary but an Islamic obligation too.
The thing is that people who can afford healthcare rely heavily on medicines and their body becomes addicted to it. They would need a medicine even after a sneeze. Whereas, as mentioned above, our people don’t bother going to a hospital due to lack of resources, they rely on home remedies and faith healing so their bodies get used to it, they bear many health issues better than those on medicines. Its human psychology, you find cure in something you firmly believe, be it medicine or sand.
So our battle with Coronavirus will be different than the rest of the world. Allah has mentioned in Quran that He doesn’t overburden a person. The amount of trouble, grieves, sorrows will never be more than what we can bear. Allah knows the condition of our country and our people.
Everything is destined. Allah has already sanctioned how many lives this virus will take and no matter how much we try, we can’t stop it until it reaches its goal. If Allah has given you sense in current situation, it doesn’t mean you are a genius and others idiots; it is by Allah’s will. Didn’t Hazrat Adam A.S knew, yet He did the mistake because Allah wanted Him to. Similarly, Allah will give sense to some and will take sense from some to spread the virus and also to contain it to have its goal completed. Those who are being AQALMAND in this situation might be out of senses in some other situation. So stop thinking of yourself a superior.
But yes, we all have to play our part by following the precautionary measures as much as we can. But again, we will still fight because someone who is following 90% instructions will abuse the one who follows 80% instructions, the 80% one will abuse the 70% one and so on. But the fact is, everyone is playing their part as per their understandings and capacity. You can never bring everyone on a single page. Go read comments and articles on Italian pages and you will find that even in such situation, some of their people are against the lockdown with some right justifications.
**WHAT ABOUT THE VIRUSES WE BEEN SPREADING IN OUR SOCIETY FOR DECADES?**
Coronavirus is nothing against the viruses we have been spreading. Today people are furious on other people on not listening, while they had the same behavior all over and we always hear the same thing KIA HO GAYA YAAR, ITNI SI TO BAAT HAI. Some people will find this connection that I am making baseless, but take a moment to think deeply.
Namaz nhi pari TO KIA HO GAYA, insan ka dil saaf hona chahiye, ye mera or Allah ka maamla hai

The list goes on. When we warn about these issues that have damaged our society, everyone take it lightly. And yet the result is in front of you. When we talk that media and social media is killing our society and our morals, people make fun. These viruses are dangerous than Corona, because Corona will go eventually, but these viruses will remain and grow if not acted.
I know the argument will be that all these things that I mentioned are for individuals and it doesn’t hurt others. Wrong. People get influenced. If someone gets inspired by you and follow the wrong footsteps, you are responsible for it. And it is also a chain like a virus, you influence 100 people, those 100 will influence 100 more and so on. In fact, in today’s media age, the circle consists of thousands of people.
Have you ever thought how much COMEDY has infected our society? Today, there is abundance of humor available throughout the platforms, yet we are the most depressed generation. You know why? Because it is not comedy, it is making fun of others which we enjoy. This abundance of comedy has actually made us non-serious and the current situation is showing you the mirror.
Film and TV has ruined our morals, yet no one bats an eye. In fact, we are labeled as Idiots or regressive people. There is no virus bigger than TV, Films and Social Media. I know the argument that let people judge what to watch and what not to because not everything is bad on TV; true, but people tend to enjoy negativity more than the positivity and even media knows it.
So when people say LIVE and LET LIVE, then why are you screaming now? People are living their lives.
Aik hath hi to hai, na dhoye to kia ho gaya
Aik isolation hi to hai, na ki to kia ho gaya
Ye MEra Jism MEri Marzi hai, mai chahu to gher rahu, na chahu to na rahu, WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO TELL ME. Mai Mask pehnu ya na pehnu, Who the Hell are you.
If I can infect you, be it be, why I should bother. Just like your actions can ruin my child and my society and you don’t bother a dime.
Are the scenes from Italy or China scarier than the Day of Judgment? When we preach and urge people to follow the teachings of Allah to prevent the disaster, you make fun and take lightly; well, the tables have turned.
LET ME BE VERY CLEAR, I am in no way asking anyone to be selfless. Please follow the precautions and behave like a good human being. What I wrote above is to show mirror.
I read a comment about lock-down that government should take extreme actions against people, use force because it is for greater good. Well true that but then what about when we talk about imposing teachings of Allah forcefully? Why against it? It is also for greater good. It is also for betterment and to save people from Hellfire. But no, then people preach freedom. Well guess what, I AM FREE TO STAY OUT OF MY HOUSE.
I hope you got my message. Again, please be a responsible citizen and follow the precautionary measure. Make lots of Dua and help people in need. These are desperate times but we are taught to be patient and thankful. Have faith in Allah but also have faith in science and follow their instructions. Balance is the key.
May Allah make our lives better than ever. May Allah vanish this virus soon.
AND PLEASE STOP CALLING NAMES ON YOUR OWN PEOPLE. PRAY FOR THEM
CORONA VIRUS is NOTHING against the viruses we been spreading in our societies for DECADES
